Hidden Shoal Recordings Sign The Retail Sectors

Hidden Shoal Recordings today announced the signing of the Japanese project The Retail Sectors to its roster of artists. The label will release the mini album Foregone Conclusion by The Retail Sectors on the 4th of December, 2007. The first single from Foregone Conclusion, the Si Begg remix of ‘The First Steps to the End of Life’ will see release on November 13th.

Layering manipulated guitars, bass, drums and electronics to create compelling, melodic instrumentals, the music of The Retail Sectors frequently threatens to spiral out of control, yet like an exquisite train wreck holds the listener rapt. From the pounding euphoria of tracks such as ‘The First Steps to the End of Life’ to the elegiac ‘Beauty of the Depression’, The Retail Sectors create inventive and utterly engaging instrumental rock.Press Release Excerpt

New Slow Dancing Society Album

Hidden Shoal Recordings are excited to announce that the eagerly awaited new album from Slow Dancing Society will be released November 6th, 2007. We can also tell you that it is absolutely sublime. For those of you mesmerised by The Sound of Lights When Dim and who expect something special as a follow up to such a critically well recieved album will not be dissapointed. The Slow and Steady Winter is the first part of what is essentially a double album released over 2007/2008. Slow Dancing Society’s Drew Sullivan explains: “After living in LA, during which time I wrote The Sound of Lights When Dim, I returned to my home town of Spokane, Washington to begin another chapter in my life, a return to innocence in a sense. I wanted to write an album that was inspired by the way I experience this city. From the cold recesses of winter where everything stills to the swirling, rising heat of summer as it fills the city streets. The two part double album will chronicle the movement across the two seasons, with the first release being The Slow and Steady Winter.

The album acts as a wonderful progression from The Sound of Lights When Dim both in sound and mood. It presents a much darker vision while still radiating an ineffable sense of humanity and heart. Like jewels frozen in ice, there are pockets of immense beauty found in this album, swirling inside its cold stretching tones.
