The Retail Sectors Single Released

The Si Begg remix of ‘The First Step to End the Life’ may be one of the catchiest, most danceabale yet musically rewarding tracks of the year. The collision of Si Beggs brilliant sense of rhythm and feel and The Retail Sectors sonic and melodic complexity make for a track that simultaneously engages the head and the body. This is My Bloody Valentine for the clubbing set. – Press Release Excerpt
The track is taken from the forthcoming Retail Sectors mini album, Foregone Conclusion to be released through Hidden Shoal Recording on the 4th of December, 2007.
The track can be previewed in full and purchased here.

Toby Richardson is back!

‘Booragoon Lagoon’ is a song which really came from being excited about a particular bluesy tone I was getting from my new guitar. It had a swampy sound and I got a nice spiky riff going. I built a whole story around that – how I learnt my guitar chops from hanging out with cool swamp rockers down at Booragoon swamp. A total fiction! But it links my local hangouts as a kid with my rock and roll dream, so its a song I’m very fond of.
It’s actually impossible to not fall in love with the song, a wonky fist-in-the-air anthem that blends the catchy attack of The Kinks with the bluesy skronk of Captain Beefheart. Bloody amazing!
Toby has just posted some news about the making of the album on his MySpace site, so pop along there for the full scoop.
In the meanwhile enjoy a slice of genius from his wonderful debut EP Golden Days.
