Hidden Shoal Recordings Releases RL/VL's Chagrin Album

Hidden Shoal Recordings today announced the release of the album Chagrin by Belfast-based electronic composer RL/VL.

Presenting an impeccably crafted minimalism and focus married to an ineffable sense of human frailty, Chagrin unfolds like the stories of ageless artefacts buried in the earth, still covered in the dirt that was once their home, brimming with micro-histories and rootless memories. Painstakingly layered from a vast array of analogue synths, tape machines, old cassettes and toys, Chagrin’s beauty lies in the fact that no sound is too small, no detail too elusive. This is ambient electronica of staggering emotive power.

Featuring the stunning single ‘Kweens’, Chagrin extends a long line of critically acclaimed ambient and instrumental releases available through Hidden Shoal Recordings, including classic works by Slow Dancing Society, Sankt Otten, Wes Willenbring and Cheekbone.

Chagrin is now available through Hidden Shoal Recordings in both CD and digital format. All availability and third-party distribution information can be found at the HSR Store, where the album can also be streamed in full.

City Of Satellites Debut Single Released, Free Download Available

Hidden Shoal Recordings today announced the release of the single ‘Moon In The Sea’ by Australian post-rock dreampop duo City Of Satellites.

Taken from their forthcoming debut EP The Spook, ‘Moon In The Sea’ is the perfect introduction to City Of Satellites’ gorgeous sound. Delayed guitars, bass and drums are swathed in an eerie mist of synths and chimes, above which Jarrod Manuel’s emotive vocals shine clear and true. Like all the best atmospheric music, the track breathes and throbs with life, ebbing and flowing beautifully throughout, leaving the listener hypnotised and hungry for more.

Moon In The Sea’ is available for free digital download from the HSR Store until the release of City Of Satellites’ debut EP The Spook on November 25th, 2008. The EP will round out what has been an amazing year of releases for the label, including new signings Fall Electric, and fantastic new albums from Hidden Shoal mainstays Sankt Otten and Slow Dancing Society.
