HC-B Release Date

Apologies to all but there was a mistake in our previous press about the signing of the unequivocally awesome HC-B. Their upcoming album Soundcheck For A Missing Movie will be released on the 3rd of March and not the 3rd of May. That’s two months off your waiting time. You should be thanking us for such mistakes!

HC-B Signing Announced

HC-BHidden Shoal Recordings is proud to announce the signing of Italian widescreen instrumental rock band HC-B to its roster.

Named after the great French photojournalist Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sicilian quintet HC-B are masters of a similarly evocative art. Their expansive sound, rich with detail, is a clear reflection of a band at the height of their creative powers. Effortlessly shifting focus and timbre with each movement of their epic song-suites, HC-B channel their formidable talents into some of the most thrilling, symphonic instrumental rock you will hear.

“From krautrock to the Canterbury school, from science-fiction films to Godspeed You Black Emperor!, the Sicilian band metabolize everything with sensitivity and personality… HC-B will be on everyone’s lips for some time to come” – Freak Out

Hidden Shoal will release their new album Soundcheck For A Missing Movie on March 3rd, 2009. The album was recorded and mixed by Sacha Tilotta and Alfredo Musumeci at Dream Factory in Catania, and mastered by Bob Weston (Shellac) in Chicago.

New Slow Beings Single Released – Free Download Available

Hidden Shoal Recordings today announced the release of ‘Nil By Rote’, the second single taken from the debut album We Know Why The Earth Moves by Perth-based outfit The Slow Beings.

‘Nil By Rote’ exposes the wonderful duality and underlying playfulness within The Slow Beings’ music. From the charming sway of the verses to the triumphant defeat of the chorus, the song injects the indie-rock form with sublime new life. Epic yet intimate, ‘Nil By Rote’ feels like an instant classic, exuding welcoming familiarity from the very first listen without ever sounding derivative.

“The Slow Beings are the kind of band that could break through onto the mainstream. They already control the hooks, melodies and riffs to compete with anyone” Delusions of Adequacy review of WKWTEM

“Perhaps the first real highlight is the strong, powerful nugget ‘Nil By Rote’…brilliant melodies” PopMatters review of WKWTEM

Nil By Rote’ will be available for free digital download from the HSR Store until the 3rd of January 2009. We Know Why The Earth Moves is available now in CD and digital format through Hidden Shoal Recordings. Check the Hidden Shoal Recordings Store for all availability and distribution information.
