“Dutch/American singer song writer Kramies has released three truly breathtaking, stripped back versions of songs from his two EPs released by Hidden Shoal. Namely, his releases The Eupoean and The Wooden Heart. This time he is without the production from Grandaddy and Guided By Voices and just letting his voice and acoustic guitar do the talking, with some additional piano duties provided by Grant Wilson from Ghost Hunters.

Antiquarian Day is delivered by in a delicate, angelic manner. It sets the scene by opening, and closing, with the charming line ‘Dust off your day so your nights shine on’. Heartbreaking lyrics continue throughout; ‘Don’t say you love him, when you never liked him before’ and ‘You know things change’. The melancholy is increased by the wonderful piano that flows throughout the song.

The Wooden Heart is almost too sad to listen to. Just the voice and guitar with the mantra like ‘you are the one with the wooden heart, you are the only one’.

Sea Otter Cottage sees the piano return. Another beautifully sad song that makes you imagine being by the sea. ‘The sea won’t behave so it swallows us up’.

Listen with care and caution.”
